Fredericksburg, Va.-based Mary Washington Healthcare opened Mary Washington Ortho Urgent Care in the city, a walk-in clinic for orthopedic injuries and musculoskeletal conditions.
The clinic requires no appointment and is staffed by orthopedic-trained providers, according to an Oct. 19 news release from the health system.
The site treats sprains, strains, sports and fall-related injuries, extremity injuries, minor fractures, joint pain and muscle injuries. Patients who need additional care leave with a priority follow-up appointment already scheduled at Mary Washington Orthopedics.
Christopher Richards, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Mary Washington Healthcare, said in the release the model cuts delays for patients with new injuries.
Mary Washington Healthcare operates more than 80 facilities, including 397-bed Mary Washington Hospital, 174-bed Stafford Hospital and four emergency departments.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
