UPMC Sports Medicine, Pittsburgh Penguins to Provide Free Baseline Concussion Tests for Youth Hockey

UPMC Sports Medicine and the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team are partnering to launch the “Heads Up Pittsburgh” program designed to provide free baseline concussion testing to youth hockey players, according to a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report.

The tests, which usually cost $25-$40 each, will be paid for by The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation. Parents of youth hockey athletes will receive educational information about concussions from the Center for Disease Control and meet with UPMC Sports Medicine concussion program staff while their child is tested.
