Sheeraz Qureshi, MD, will be the new chief medical officer at Hospital for Special Surgery Florida, and David Backstein, MD, will be medical director of the upcoming HSS at NCH Health System.
Dr. Qureshi, who is also co-chief of HSS Spine, will oversee clinical operations and quality of West Palm Beach-based HSS Florida’s locations, according to a May 5 news release. He will also work with HSS Florida CEO Tara McCoy to improve patient access statewide.
Dr. Backstein, who joined HSS at NCH earlier in 2025, will succeed David Helfet, MD, as medical director. His duties include serving as a conduit between HSS at NCH and HSS’ New York City main campus and partnering with philanthropy teams.
Dr. Helfet will serve as founding medical director of HSS at NCH.
