Dr. Gosy’s clinic treats up to 10,000 patients each year, and 90 percent of them are on opiate-based drugs for pain management. He developed a protocol which requires patients to agree to random urine testing. The test results show if they are abusing their medications — in which case he’ll find them treatment — or not taking them at all — which may mean they are selling the drugs illegally.
Dr. Gosy refuses to treat patients who will not agree to the protocol.
