For complex spinal procedures, Dr. Gupta performs spinal fusions using bone morphogenic proteins to enhance bone growth. His research interests currently include the application of cell-based gene therapy for spinal regeneration and fusion. He is currently involved in several clinical studies evaluating the efficacy of the existing and new procedures and techniques for spondylosis, cervical stenosis and scoliosis.
During his career, Dr. Gupta has lectured on several spinal disorders and injuries at national and international meetings. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society and Scoliosis Research Society. He has also published articles in professional journals, such as Spine, on complications during lumbar spine surgery, and the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Gupta serves on the editorial boards for several medical journals, including The Spine Journal and Clinical Biomechanics. He also volunteers with international outreach programs. He speaks English, Hindi and Punjabi.
Dr. Gupta earned his medical degree at Northwestern University in Chicago, where he also completed his residency. His additional training includes a fellowship with Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis.
