“Surgical repairs, performed either arthroscopically or open, have had inconsistent rates of healing,” said Dr. Sethi in the report. Furthermore, the larger tear—the more likely the repair is to fail. Patients may notice some improvement post surgery, even when the tendon has not completely healed. However, when the tendon successfully heals to the bone, patients experience less pain and greater post-operative strength. The TOE technique significantly increases the chance of complete recovery.”
Dr. Sethi has also published research in the American Journal of Sports Medicine and the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a member of numerous organizations, including the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the New England Shoulder and Elbow Society. Dr. Sethi is also a clinical instructor in orthopedic surgery at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn.
Before joining ONS, Dr. Sethi completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. During his time in LA, he served as orthopedic consultant to the Los Angeles Dodgers and assistant team physician for the Lakers, Kings and Angels. He is currently the team physician for several local high school athletic programs.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sethi has presented at national meetings and given lectures on advanced arthroscopic surgical techniques around the world. He has also lent his expertise to sports medicine publications, such as Youth1, and speaks to groups about youth sports injury prevention. He has been named a top physician by several publications, including Connecticut Magazine, Castle Connolly and Stamford Magazine.
Dr. Sethi earned his medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and completed his residency in orthopedics at Yale New Haven (Conn.) Hospital.
