The hospital experienced a 43 percent increase in patient volume between 2006 and 2007. The number of joint replacements done during that time more than doubled.

“The dramatic jump in orthopedic surgical volume can be attributed to Franklin’s growing reputation for excellence among both physicians and the community,” Dr. Scuderi said in a hospital news release. “We’re attracting such a large number of patients because we have the skill and technology to treat very complex conditions of the joints. We’re able to restore motion with minimal pain and minimal length of stay.”

In addition to his work at Franklin, Dr. Scuderi is also an attending orthopedic surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City and assistant clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, N.Y.
