Here are five notes:
1. Dr. Graves was an orthopedic surgeon at the medical center when a shooter killed 13 people and injured 30 others at the Fort Hood Army Base in 2009.
2. Two general surgeons and two orthopedic surgeons were initially on duty as the wounded started coming into the hospital.
3. The orthopedic center was turned into a triage center, according to Dr. Graves, as providers worked to help the injured.
4. Speaking of that day, Dr. Graves noted the mass shooting “is something I will replay over and over in my head. You never think it is going to happen, then it does.”
5. Dr. Graves is currently an orthopedic surgeon at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
