More than 4.5 million people in the United States have undergone knee replacements, and the number of those traveling for their procedures has been increasing over the past three years. The increasing price of healthcare is one reason some U.S. citizens have chosen to travel abroad for care.
According to the report, undergoing medical procedures abroad can have a cost savings of 50 percent to 70 percent, and many of the surgeons are trained in the United States or have ties to American medical centers.
