Here are seven key notes, according to the report:

1. Marshall’s head team physician Charles Giangarra, MD, told the Charleston Daily Mail, that the institute opening was a dream come true.

2. The Sports Medicine Institute will house physicians, trainers, physical therapists, nutritionists and necessary equipment.

3. The institute will be “for anyone who’s health-conscious and active,” Dr. Giangarra said in the article.

4. The comprehensive sports medicine approach that is available to the public is something head athletic trainer Tom Belmaggio said the region has never seen.

5. The institute will also include exam rooms, conference rooms, and weight and cardio equipment, including an AlterG anti-gravity treadmill, according to the report.

6. Research will also play an integral role at the center, and a concussion consortium will be among the first projects, which will include two baseline concussion tests, ImPACT and C3 Logix.

7. Other technologies at the center will include the TRAZER, a rehabilitation module similar to an Xbox Kinect, which can test strength and balance and also aid in concussion research, according to the report.
