OhioHealth selected as Ashland University Athletics’ healthcare provider — 4 takeaways

OhioHealth in Columbus has been named as the official healthcare provider for Ashland (Ohio) University Athletics, according to WMFD.

Here are four takeaways:

 

1. OhioHealth will provide medical counsel and coverage to the university’s 18 intercollegiate sports teams.

 

2. OhioHealth’s sports medicine team currently provides services to seven collegiate athletic programs, nearly 50 high schools as well as the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets and Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew.

 

3. OhioHealth will provide athletic training services to improve the safety and performance of the university’s student athletes, including concussion baseline testing for all athletes. Student athletes will also have improved access to all of OhioHealth’s services, including physical therapy, orthopedics, cardiology and neurology.

 

4. In addition to working with the university’s athletic program, OhioHealth will work with Ashland University’s curriculum programs to provide educational experiences for athletic training students, including placement for students within OhioHealth facilities.
