Dan Cooper, MD, will be performing reconstructive knee surgery on Notre Dame linebacker Jaylon Smith, according to Sports Day.

1. Mr. Smith will undergo surgery on Thursday to repair a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee.

 

2. Mr. Smith is a junior and one of the top prospects for the upcoming NFL draft.

 

3. Dr. Cooper is an orthopedic surgeon and team physician for the Dallas Cowboys.

 

4. Dr. Cooper was the recipient of the Jerry “Hawk” Rhea Award in 2013, which is given to an outstanding NFL team physician.
