Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum inducts Dr. Edgar Holmes III into Hall of Fame — 5 takeaways

Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum inducted retired orthopedic surgeon, Edgar Homes III, MD, into its Hall of Fame, according to Mountain Times.

1. Dr. Holmes is the principal founder of the Vermont Orthopaedic Clinic in Rutland.

 

2. The Hall of Fame commemorates athletes, pioneers of Vermont skiing and special contributors who have contributed to or promoted skiing in the state.

 

3. Dr. Holmes has pioneered many techniques mangling ski-specific injuries including progressive ski specific rehabilitation, ACL reconstruction and total joint replacement.  

 

4. He traveled with the U.S. Ski Team internationally from 1976 to 2007, providing the team medical care and support.

 

5. In a statement, Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum said, “Dr. Holmes exemplifies the best of what a person can do in ski-related sports medicine and in being a support person to elite skiers and skiers of all levels.”
