The new ordinance aims to prevent pill mills by requiring pain management clinics to obtain a license. License applicants must be a board-eligible physician with pain management fellowship training or certification, or a hospital-affiliated clinic run by a pain management physician, according to the report.
Other requirements from the ordinance include that pain management clinics must be at least 2,500 feet away from other pain management clinics in the city.
