Dr. William Meyers to perform surgery on Seattle Mariners’ Robinson Cano: 5 points

William Meyers, MD, will perform sports hernia surgery on Seattle Mariners’ Robinson Cano in Philadelphia, according to a Seattle Times report.

Here are five points:

 

1. Mr. Cano will undergo surgery to repair the damage from the hernia on Oct. 13.

 

2. He first suffered pain in his abdomen on July 28. Despite missing a few days at the time, Mr. Cano has been playing with the pain ever since.

 

3. It will take in six weeks to recover from the surgery, according to team orthopedic surgeon Edward Khalfayan, MD.

 

4. Dr. Meyers, president and chairman of Philadelphia-based Vincera Institute, focuses on the treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of core muscle injuries.

 

5. He completed fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.
