Dr. Richard Parker becomes Marymount Hospital president — 5 things to know

Orthopedic surgeon Richard Parker, MD, was appointed president of Cleveland Clinic’s Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights, Ohio, according to a report from The Plain Dealer.

Here are five things to know about Dr. Parker:

 

1. He joined Cleveland Clinic in 1992 and was appointed chairman of orthopedic surgery in 2009, a position he’ll continue to hold until a replacement is found.

 

2. Cleveland Clinic honored Dr. Parker in 2012-2013 with the Cleveland Clinic Innovations Award.

 

3. In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Parker is a professor of surgery at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.

 

4. Dr. Parker is a past president of the Cleveland Orthopaedic Society.

 

5. Dr. Parker earned his medical degree at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the former Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland. He underwent a fellowship at Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital in Salt Lake City.
