Dr. John Barrasso Launches Senate Re-Election Campaign in Wyoming

Orthopedic surgeon and Senator John Barrasso, MD, (R-Wyo.) has launched his first re-election bid for a full term in the United States Senate, according to a report from The Times-Picayune.

Dr. Barrasso was appointed to fill the vacated seat of Senator Craig Thomas, who died while serving his term in 2007. He won an election in 2008 to fill out the remainder of Senator Thomas’ term. Dr. Barrasso is now chairman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee, ranking fourth among Senate Republican leadership, according to the report.

Dr. Barrasso has been outspoken against the healthcare reform law.
