Dr. Dineen has spent his career researching sports injuries and promoting safety among athletes. He was the first team physician for local high school New Hanover High School. He also organized the first annual symposium on sports medicine in the area. He is now retired.
During his career, Dr. Dineen served as chief of orthopedics at the US Naval Hospital in Oakland, Calif., and retired from the US Navy as captain. He subsequently opened Coastal Orthopaedics in Wilmington and was instrumental in beginning local medical emergency programs.
