Dr. Bush-Joseph discussed Chicago Bulls’ MVP Derrick Rose’s ankle injury and his decision to play through the injury during the postseason. Most players have some type of injury by the post-season, he said, and they can take a toll.
During the playoffs, acute bruises and sprains could occur, but most problems are the chronic injuries or pains, such as chronic tendonitis. The players undergo daily treatment in the training room to prevent injuries, such as heat, ice, compressions, anti-inflammatory medication, nutrition and hydration, he said.
