Dr. Kelly and his colleagues compared surgical results for 60 male patients under the age of 40. They examined the pre- and postoperative radiographic images of each patient and compared the mechanical performance and range of motion for each joint to determine the success of the procedure.

According to the report, the ideal patient for FAI arthroscopy is a young athletic patient 15-25 years of age who has significant cartilage damage to the hip joint. However, Dr. Kelly has operated on patients as old as 50 with FAI.
