This year’s volunteer group of four surgeons evaluated more than 212 patients in clinics and performed surgery on 79 — at no cost to the patients. During the month-long project, the volunteers worked at orthopedic rehab centers as well as a hospital. They also presented at the annual educational conference on Surgery of the Lower Extremities held on June 7 in Hanoi.
The first AOFAS Overseas Outreach Project to Vietnam occurred in 2002 and more than 1,100 patients have benefited from the surgeries performed.
