The multimillion dollar project includes construction of a new facility where surgeons will be able to treat major and minor injuries and complications. The majority of traumatic musculoskeletal conditions in Ghana occur from traffic and industrial accidents, often including pelvic and acetabular injuries, according to the report. The new program is designed to help develop qualified surgeons in the area to improve care.
The organizations are now calling for volunteers to work in the country on two to four week assignments. Volunteers will teach and participate in surgeries while in the country.
