Charles J. Gatt Jr., MD, an orthopedic surgeon at University Orthopaedic Associates in New Jersey, has been appointed as Program Director of Limb Salvage and Regeneration for the Rutgers-Cleveland Clinic Consortium of the Armed Forces Institute of Regenerative Medicine, according to a University Orthopaedic Associates news release.
Dr. Gatt is on the executive committee of RCCC, which is one of two academic consortia for AFIRM, a five-year funded "multi-institutional interdisciplinary network working to develop advanced treatment options for severely wounded servicemen and women." Along with his co-investigator Michael Dunn, MD, Dr. Gatt has pioneered the creation of a weight-bearing scaffold that facilitates the body's repair of meniscus tears.
Dr. Gatt has a special interest in sports medicine and arthroscopy, and he completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
