The new and streamlined services, now labeled the Miami Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute, was founded by the UHZ Sports Medicine Institute and is spread across five locations in south Florida.

Included in the name change is Doctors Hospital Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, which, officials at Baptist Health say, has served as a sort of hub of Baptist Health’s orthopedics and sports medicine program for a long time.

”The orthopedic and sports medicine program at Doctors Hospital has a long-standing reputation for exceptional patient care and physician leadership,” said Wayne Brackin, Baptist Health’s executive vice president and COO. ”As Baptist Health continues to grow, this is an opportunity to maximize the expertise within the organization and provide a seamless patient experience in an integrated network.”

Under the new name, like its predecessor, Miami Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute will provide sports medicine services to a host of teams and athletes, including the Miami Dolphins, Miami Heat, Florida International University and the Orange Bowl.
