Here are eight spine technology and technique debuts on the regional and national scale since October. 21:

1. Neurosurgeon Chris Talbot, DO, successfully completed the first endoscopic spine surgery at AdventHealth Avista in Louisville, Colo.

2. Alejandro Lopez, DO, performed New Jersey’s first fully endoscopic laminectomy using Amplify Surgical’s dualPortal technology.

3. University Orthopedics’ East Bay Surgery Center in East Providence, R.I., has become the first site in the state to implant a closed-loop spinal cord stimulator.

4. Kornelis Poelstra, MD, PhD, debuted a multi-arm, navigation-based robotic system at Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas.

5. Ehsan Jazini, MD, performed the first two-level lumbar disc replacement combining the TOPS spine system on the East Coast.

6. Alex Vaccaro, MD, PhD, and Paul Celestre, MD, were the first surgeons to use Spine Wave’s new Testa TP pivoting spacer system.

7. Hanbing (Steve) Zhou, MD, of Orthopedic Associates of Hartford (Conn.) performed the first case using the Varisync ALIF NanoPrime system.

8. Orthopedic surgeon Nick Nenadovich, MD, has completed the first endoscopic implantation of Intrinsic Therapeutics’ Barricaid annular closure device in the Great Lakes region.
