The development of spine robots and navigation comes with the promise of improved precision and efficiency, beneficial to the surgeon and patient. Although the worry of overreliance looms, some spine surgeons remain optimistic about the technology's advantages.

Fisherville, Va.-based Augusta Health has added Zimmer Biomet's Rosa knee system for joint replacements. 

Montrose (Colo.) Regional Health added the ExcelsiusGPS and Excelsius3D systems for spine surgery, according to a Jan. 16 announcement in the Montrose Press.

Orthopedic surgeon Chelsey Durgin, MD, completed his 1,000th successful case with the Mako Surgical Robotic System, according to a Jan. 11 report by Tallahassee Reports.

Ozark, Mo.-based Mercy Orthopedic Hospital has added a Velys robotic system for knee replacements, according to a Jan. 2 report from KY3.

New Castle, Ind.-based Henry Community Health is offering joint replacement procedures utilizing the Mako Smart Robotics system, according to a Dec. 30 report by The Courier-Times. 

Rock Springs, Wyo.-based Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County has added a Stryker Mako robot for total knee and hip replacements, according to a Dec. 28 report from Sweetwater Now.
