An Oklahoma neurosurgeon recently completed the state's first robotic-assisted sacroiliac fusion.

Benefis Health System in Great Falls became the first system in Montana to utilize the Zimmer Biomet Rosa Knee System surgical robot, 3KRTV reported Jan. 26.

Brooke Army Medical Center has added Medtronic's Mazor X Stealth Edition guidance system for spinal surgery, according to a Jan. 25 report from the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. 

The global market for spine robots is expected to grow to $139.9 million, according to market research from Data Bridge.

Chad Weber, DO, a surgeon at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville, Ohio, has performed his 1,000th robotic-assisted orthopedic procedure using Stryker Mako's SmartRobotics, according to a Jan. 24 report from the Daily Advocate. 

LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Va., reached its 100th surgery with the Mazor X Stealth Edition spine robot, the hospital said Jan. 20.

The North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding, Idaho, has added Globus Medical's robotic spinal surgery navigation system, Excelsius GPS, to its practice, according to a Jan. 16 report from Twin Falls, Idaho, CBS affiliate KMVT.

THINK Surgical has partnered with UK-based digital health company Definition Health, according to a Dec. 5 release from the company. THINK Surgical is a robotics developer focusing on orthopedic surgery robots.

Robots are still considered to be in their infancy in spine surgery, but most surgeons agree they will have a critical role to play in the future of the specialty. However, certain challenges remain.
