South Dakota State Orthopaedic Society wins AAOS award: 3 things to know

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons named the South Dakota State Orthopaedic Society the recipient of the 2015 State Society of the Year Award.

Here are three things to know:

 

1. The South Dakota State Orthopaedic Society is comprised of orthopedic surgeons from within the state of South Dakota and is led by elected board members. They meet annually.

 

2. Stephen Eckrich, MD, orthopedic surgeon at Rapid City, SD-based Black Hills Orthopedic & Spine Center and South Dakota’s representative to the AAOS, accepted the award on the society’s behalf.

 

3. South Dakota orthopedic surgeons advocated for the Initiated Measure 17 on Patient Choice, which was a factor in winning this award.
