Dr. Michael O'Boyle wins South Carolina award for patient safety: 4 key notes

Michael O'Boyle, MD, has been honored with the Lewis W. Blackman Patient Safety Champion Award in the Caregiver category at the 8th Annual South Carolina Transforming Health Symposium, according to a Greenville Online report.

Here are four things to know about Dr. O'Boyle and the award:

 

1. Dr. O'Boyle is an orthopedic surgeon practicing with Greenville, S.C.-based Bon Secours Medical Group, where he is the medical director of the patient-centered St. Francis Osteoporotic Fracture Program.

 

2. The fracture program is dedicated to the care of geriatric patients with hip or femur fractures.

 

3. Dr. O'Boyle completed his residency at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. He also completed two fellowships — an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa and a foot and ankle surgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

 

4. The statewide award celebrates individuals who have made healthcare safer in South Carolina.
