Greenwich, Conn.-based Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists has increased the number of physicians in its network to 34 after a Sept. 15 affiliation with Orthopedic Associates of Middletown (Conn.).

Orthopedic Care Partners, backed by private equity firm Varsity Healthcare Partners and the holding company for Gainesville, Fla.-based The Orthopaedic Institute, affiliated OrthoAspen (Colo.) on Sept. 10. 

Bruce Cohen, MD, has been named president of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society and will serve on the board of the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation, according to a Sept. 14 news release.

Rockford-based OrthoIllinois' Scott Trenhaile, MD, has received a U.S. patent for a surgical suture anchor that will be produced by Smith+Nephew, according to a Sept. 4 rrstar.com report.

Humana has expanded its value-based program to include total shoulder replacement, beginning with six orthopedic practices, according to a Sept. 10 announcement.
