OrthoCarolina surgeon-CEO named AOFAS president

Bruce Cohen, MD, has been named president of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society and will serve on the board of the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation, according to a Sept. 14 news release.

Dr. Cohen is CEO of Charlotte, N.C.-based OrthoCarolina as well as professor of orthopedic surgery and vice chairman of operations at Atrium Musculoskeletal Institute in Charlotte.

In the new role, he will lead the society’s outreach efforts, improve its educational program and solidify financial and strategic plans.

Dr. Cohen has been on several AOFAS committees and served as a reviewer for its scientific journal, Foot & Ankle International.

Specializing in foot and ankle reconstruction, he completed one fellowship at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and another at American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Ala.
