Here are six recent data security incidents and data breach lawsuits happening in the orthopedic industry, as reported by Becker’s since March 23:

  1. Des Plaines, Ill.-based Illinois Bone & Joint Institute agreed to pay $4 million to settle a class-action lawsuit stemming from a 2024 security incident.
  2. Bethesda, Md.-based Aligned Orthopedic Partners learned of a data security incident that may have impacted patient information.
  3. Concord (N.H.) Orthopedics settled a class-action lawsuit involving a cybersecurity incident from November 2024.
  4. Latham-based OrthopedicsNY agreed to pay $1.45 million to settle a class-action lawsuit involving a data breach from December 2023.
  5. TriMed, an orthopedic device manufacturer, provided notice of a data security incident involving personal information.
  6. Amherst, N.Y.-based Excelsior Orthopaedics agreed to pay $2.4 million to settle a class-action lawsuit stemming from a 2024 data breach.
