1. Mr. Shapiro has served in his current role since October 2006. He oversees all strategic and operational aspects of the hospital, which U.S. News & World Report ranked No. one in the nation for orthopedics for the ninth year in a row.
2. Under Mr. Shapiro’s leadership, HSS has received the Gallup Great Workplace Award twice for the most engaged workplaces in the world.
3. He has more than 30 years of healthcare experience. Mr. Shapiro served as executive vice president and CEO of Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger, and as a leader in the healthcare practice at McKinsey & Co.
4. He serves on the board of directors for Crutches for Kids and the Move Mountains Foundation.
