Carevature Medical's Dreal system may be safer for patients, study shows: 3 things to know

MIS

Carevature Medical's Dreal decompression system reduces the risk of incidental dural tears compared to other devices, according to an article in the International Journal of Spine Surgery.

Here are three things to know:

1. The Dreal device demonstrated significantly improved results in incidental dural tears, with 87 percent improvement compared to high-speed drills and Kerrison Rongeurs and 80 percent improvement compared to ultrasonic bone cutters.

2. The Dreal device features a curved and shielded tip that is designed to require only a limited number of passes to remove the target pathology.

3. Carevature's flagship product is the only curved device designed to both cut bone and be small enough for use in all sections of the spine. The Dreal device has been used on 800 patients worldwide.
