Here are three things to know:
1. The Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research group and NYU School of Medicine’s radiology department launched fastMRI, a project dedicated to make MRI scans up to 10 times faster though AI.
2. Faster MRI machines could be used in place of X-rays and CT scans for certain applications, minimizing patient radiation exposure.
3. The project will use imaging data collected exclusively by NYU. The project is HIPAA-compliant and will use no Facebook data of any kind.
