Florida hospital becomes 1st in area to offer spine surgical robot: 3 highlights

Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel became the first in the Tampa Bay area to adopt Globus Medical’s ExcelsiusGPS for its neurospine program.

Here are three highlights:

1. The ExcelsiusGPS system provides real-time imaging to surgeons navigating throughout minimally invasive spine surgeries. It is designed to promote precise screw position, reduce radiation exposure and shorten recovery time.

2. Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel launched its neurospine program in October 2017.

3. Amir Ahmadian, MD, and Armen Deukmedjian, MD, of the NeuSpine Institute in Wesley Chapel lead the hospital’s neurospine program. Dr. Ahmadian performed the area’s first surgery using the robotic system.
