Board certified in neurosurgery, Dr. Barakat is the past president of the Kane County Medical Society. He has published numerous articles on cervical and lumbar disc diseases and laser disc treatments.
Dr. Barakat is a fellow of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, American College of Surgeons and International College of Surgeons.
After earning his medical degree from Damascus University Faculty of Medicine in Syria, Dr. Barakat completed residencies at Pontiac General Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich., and the Memphis-based University
of Tennessee Center of Health Sciences.
