Dr. Galea pleaded guilty to using HGH, which is unapproved for use in the United States, to treat professional athletes. He faces three years in prison and a $250,000 fine. However, federal prosecutors will seek a lesser sentence because Dr. Galea agreed to cooperate.
Charges of conspiracy, possession of HGH with intent to distribute, smuggling and making false statements were dropped as part of a plea deal.
