1. Mr. Putney injured his spine while struggling to handcuff an “out-of-control” teenager, according to the Times Record News. During the scuffle, Mr. Putney fell on the concrete curb.
2. Dr. James performed the first surgery Sept. 17; however, he was unable to place all of the necessary rods and screws. A follow-up procedure was scheduled to place the last cage Sept. 20.
3. Dr. James performed the spine surgeries at Methodist Southlake (Texas) Hospital.
4. A board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon, Dr. James specializes in spinal stenosis, trauma and deformity.
5. After earning his medical degree from and completing his residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Dr. James underwent fellowship training at University of Texas at Houston.
