The competition focused specifically on the pediatric orthopedic and spine sector and awarded $50,000 in grant funding to each winner as well as access to the NCC-PDI’s pioneering “Pediatric Device Innovator Accelerator Program,” which is led by MedTech Innovator.
Here are the five winners and their devices:
1. AMB Surgical, Dayton, Ohio — FLYTE, a device designed to decrease invasive and repetitive surgery in children and teens with orthopedic illnesses such as scoliosis and limb abnormalities.
2. Auctus Surgical, San Francisco — Auctus Surgical Dynamic Spinal Tethering System, a tool used to correct the scoliotic spine in pediatric patients through a tethering procedure.
3. ApiFix, Boston — ApiFix’s Minimally Invasive Deformity Correction System, a posterior dynamic deformity correction system for surgical treatment to provide permanent spinal curve correction while retaining flexibility.
4. Children’s National Health System, Washington, D.C. —Babysteps platform to advance initial assessment of clubfoot deformity and predict the magnitude of correction.
5. nView Medical, Salt Lake City — Surgical scanner using artificial intelligence-based image creation to provide instant 3D imaging during surgery to increase imagery speed and accuracy.
