Osso VR offers training module for robotic-assisted orthopedic surgical system

Osso VR showcased its virtual reality training module for Smith & Nephew’s NAVIO Surgical System at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons 2019 Annual Meeting, March 12-16 in Las Vegas, according to the Robotics Business Review.

Osso VR’s surgical training platform provides haptic-enhanced interactions. “NAVIO is a natural fit for virtual training and assessment as it involves robotics-assisted surgical steps coupled with a novel software interface,” said Osso VR CEO Justin Barad, MD. 

The NAVIO Surgical System is a handheld robotics platform designed to reduce time, costs and eliminate radiation exposure associated with preoperative CT imaging, allowing for intraoperative imaging that lets surgeons build a patient-specific 3D model.
