The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on June 4 rejected Globus Medical’s last-remaining patent claim against Life Spine.
In 2021 Life Spine was sued over allegations the ProLift line infringed Globus Medical’s patents, Life Spine said in a news release. Life Spine challenged the patentability of multiple patents.
In 2024 the U.S. Patent Trial & Appeal Board cancelled all claims from four patents Globus Medical asserted against Life Spine. Then in August 2025 the remaining patent claims were litigated in a jury trial.
A jury rejected Globus Medical’s infringement claims on one patent, and on June 4 the court held that the other claim was based on an invalid patent.
“We have always believed in the strength of our innovation and the ProLift platform,” Life Spine president and CEO, said in the release. “This outcome confirms what we’ve known from the beginning—that these claims lacked merit and that our technology stands on solid ground. More importantly, we remain focused on what matters most: delivering better outcomes for patients and surgeons.”
