Carlsmed’s aprevo spine implant earned CMS’ New Technology Add-On Payment for cervical spine procedures, the company said Aug. 1.
Starting Oct. 1, cervical spine procedures done with aprevo will be eligible for additional payment from CMS and private insurers. The NATP will use unique ICD-10-PCS procedure codes to provide up to an additional $21,125 in reimbursement along with the Medicare Severity-Diagnosis Related Groups for qualifying inpatient cases.
“Our aprevo personalized surgery platform is designed to reduce the need for revision surgeries and empower surgeons to achieve optimal alignment for each patient,” Carlsmed CEO Mike Cordonnier, said in the release. “Building upon the CMS reimbursement granted to our lumbar fusion devices last year, we are pleased that this decision enables us to continue our mission to improve outcomes and decrease the cost of healthcare for spine surgery patients”
The move comes shortly after Carlsmed announced the first cervical spine surgery completed with aprevo.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
