5 spine, orthopedic medtech acquisitions making a splash in Q1

Five spine and orthopedic medtech companies completed or announced acquisitions in the first quarter of 2022.

1. Surgalign Holdings acquired equity interest in Interneural Networks, whose artificial intelligence technology identifies possible pathological states.

2. Medtronic will acquire Affera, a company that focuses on cardiac mapping and navigation.

3. Paragon 28, a foot and ankle devicemaker, acquired preoperative planning software company Disior.

4. Smith+Nephew acquired Engage Surgical, which has the only cementless partial knee system commercially available in the U.S.

5. Stryker completed its $3.1 billion acquisition of Vocera Communications. The deal was first announced in January.
