Spinal Tech

Smith+Nephew acquired Engage Surgical, which has the only cementless partial knee system commercially available in the U.S.

The acquisition aims to drive Smith+Nephew's robotics strategy, according to a Jan. 19 news release. Engage Surgical's partial knee system is designed for long-term fixation through biologic integration and short procedure times. The partial knee system is also optimized for robotics and will have an application with Smith+Nephew's Cori system in the future.

The transaction cost is up to $135 million, contingent on sales performance.
