Dr. Schulder used Synaptive Medical’s Modus V 3D exoscope, which features a robotic arm that helps surgeons guide surgical tools during surgery.
“This is the new face of operative neurosurgery,” Dr. Schulder told The Island Now. “Exoscopic surgery will gradually replace the use of the operating microscope over the next decade.”
Modus V features auto-focus and voice-activated control and enables surgeons to control the camera position hands-free.
North Shore University Hospital is reportedly the first center in Long Island, N.Y., to use the robot, which also has applications for spine surgery.
