St. Luke’s introduced the system in December. The robot uses GPS-like guidance, data analytics and real-time imaging for more precise surgery with less tissue disruption, according to a Feb. 28 news release.

St. Luke’s neurosurgeon Justice Owusu-Agyei, MD, described the technology as “a game changer.”

“Nothing beats safety in this surgery, and the Mazor X platform provides the highest level of operative precision and safety I have seen,” he said in the release.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
