Ronceverte, W.Va.-based CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, part of Charleston, W.Va.-based Vandalia Health, has added a new orthopedic robot. 

Providence Swedish, a partnership between Renton, Wash.-based Providence and Seattle-based Swedish Health, plans to add a Globus GPS robot for back surgeries at St. Peter Hospital, in Olympia, Wash., according to a Dec. 30 report from Thurston Talk.

Robotic surgery has been a hot topic in the field of musculoskeletal care over the last decade, as both orthopedic and spine robot technology continues to advance. 

Muncie-based Central Indiana Orthopedics has acquired its fifth Mako robot and surpassed 3,000 procedures using the technology, according to a Dec. 18 report from The Hamilton County Reporter.

Beaumont-based Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas has added a Mako robot to assist with orthopedic surgeries, according to a Dec. 14 report from the Beaumont Enterprise.

Spine and orthopedic companies made strides with new robots in 2024. 

Las Vegas-based Southern Hills Hospital has added robotic-assisted technology for spine surgeries, according to a Dec. 11 report from ABC affiliate KTNV.

Johnson & Johnson's Velys robot has been used in unicompartmental knee replacements for the first time, according to a Dec. 5 LinkedIn post. 

Monroe, La.-based St. Francis Medical Center has added the ExcelisusGPS robot for spine surgery, according to a Dec. 4 report from CBS affiliate KNOE.
