The Apollo was recently acquired by Hoag, including the ApolloKnee software for robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty, according to a Sept. 30 news release.
Joint replacement surgeon Travis Scudday, MD, performed the first operation at HOI. The platform gives surgeons tools to create and precisely implement a personalized surgical plan for each patient throughout the arthroplasty procedure.
They can also learn from past procedures and review data prior to and during surgery alongside patient-reported outcomes. The ApolloKnee workflow software features efficient gesture controls and autonomous planning to further improve the surgeon’s precision.
The new robot is in use at Hoag Orthopedic Institute’s orthopedic and spine specialty hospital in Irvine, and brings to 10 the total number of surgical robotic devices within the Hoag Orthopedic Institute enterprise.
