The center was named a “Center of Excellence” in robotic surgery as well as minimally invasive surgery, according to a Sept. 5 news release from ECU Health.

The Surgical Review Corporation also named four “Surgeons of Excellence” in robotic surgery at the center: Matthew Collins, MD; Johnathan Hamilton, MD; Grainger Lanneau, Jr., MD; and Hugh Reeves, MD.

Additionally, three physicians at ECU Health Medical Center were named “Surgeons of Excellence” in minimally invasive surgery: Carlos Anciano Granadillo, MD; James Speicher, MD; and Dean Yamaguchi, MD.

To receive accreditation from the Surgical Review Corporation, organizations must meet certain requirements, including surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardized operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education and continuous quality assessment, the release said.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
